The Department of Physics at Baylor University invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental high energy physics at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in August 2025.
Existing faculty in the Baylor experimental high energy physics group (https://physics.artsandsciences.baylor.edu/research/hep) actively participate in the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The group plays a significant role in the operation of the recently upgraded hadron calorimeter, the Phase 2 upgrade of the endcap calorimeter, trigger system optimization, and improving particle flow reconstruction. The group members are currently searching for rare Higgs decays, supersymmetry and other new phenomena, and measurements of rare standard model processes. In addition, the group is involved in future collider projects. The group vigorously pursues the use of machine learning techniques for data analysis.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. and research experience in experimental high energy physics. We seek scholars with significant evidence of a well-developed research trajectory and the ability to effectively collaborate in small and large groups. The successful candidate will be expected to secure external funding to support their program of research. Additionally, successful candidates will have the ability and interest to teach undergraduate and graduate students, to supervise and mentor research students and postdoctoral researchers, and to serve the university and broader physics community.
Application instructions for this position can be found at http://apply.interfolio.com/147867. Complete applications must be submitted by 11 PM US Central time on October 31, 2024. Questions about the position may be directed to the search committee chair, Prof. Kenichi Hatakeyama, at hep-faculty-search@baylor.edu.
