The University of Chicago invites applications at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of experimental cosmology. Appointments may be made in either the Department of Physics or the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics, or jointly between Physics and Astronomy & Astrophysics as well as the Enrico Fermi Institute.
Department and Institute members play leading roles in a wide range of research projects in cosmology and related fields, including the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT), the Magellan Telescopes, Dark Energy Survey (DES), Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), DESI and other spectroscopic surveys, South Pole Telescope (SPT), Simons Observatory (SO), CMB-S4, and many others, as described on the Institute and Department websites (https://efi.uchicago.edu/, https://physics.uchicago.edu, and https://astrophysics.uchicago.edu/). Faculty in these units at The University of Chicago are also involved in the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), and Argonne National Laboratory.
Qualifications
Completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, or a closely related field at the time of hire.
