The Department of Physics at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2025. We seek an outstanding experimentalist, theorist, or computationalist with a Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, or a related field completed by the start date. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to a program that combines teaching courses, seminars, and laboratories at all levels with independently defined, externally funded research that engages both undergraduate and graduate students. At present, the Physics Department has experimental research in atomic physics, condensed matter physics, plasma physics, and biophysics, as well as a theoretical program in high-energy physics. Ongoing collaborations exist with colleagues in other departments, at neighboring institutions and with institutions across the country and internationally. The successful candidate will be expected to be part of developing and teaching a diverse and inclusive curriculum, including interdisciplinary programs and other college-wide initiatives such as the 360 Program and the first-year Emily Balch Seminars.
To apply for this position, candidates must submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, a research plan that includes a start-up budget and a description of how undergraduate and graduate students can participate, and a statement of demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion. In addition, candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted via Interfolio to the Department of Physics Search Committee. Apply at http://apply.interfolio.com/148509 . All materials must be submitted by October 1st to receive full consideration.
