The Department of Physics at Duquesne University invites applications for a non-tenure-track position in physics, at the Teaching Assistant Professor level, for the academic year 2023-24. Located in the heart of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University offers undergraduate physics degrees in a student-centered liberal arts environment. We have seven faculty members and between 25 and 35 students (all years). We have a commitment to implement Physics Education Research (PER) in our curriculum. Most students participate in the research programs onsite and many travel to national labs for summer internships. We are seeking a dynamic individual with a genuine commitment to teaching, excellent interpersonal skills, and the potential for achieving excellence in undergraduate physics courses for science and non-science majors, with large and small enrollments. The ideal candidate would hold a PhD in physics, be familiar with PER and have experience teaching undergraduate physics courses. Successful candidates will be competent in the use of a learning management system and will have the ability to integrate online instructional resources in the learning experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have potential to teach engineering majors as well. Review of complete applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Duquesne University uses Interfolio to collect all faculty job applications electronically. Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation to: https://apply.interfolio.com/123350. While the position will remain open until filled, priority will be given to applications received by April 14, 2023. For more information please contact Simonetta Frittelli at frittelli@duq.edu.
