- Ph.D. in seismology, geophysics or associated field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience with seismological and geophysical methods for characterizing the subsurface.
- Significant experience applying computational seismology to multi-disciplinary, non-proliferation projects, including explosion monitoring.
- Advanced knowledge of seismic and other geophysical data including infrasound, hydroacoustic, geodetic, and imagery. Experience collecting, processing and analyzing local/regional seismic data, and proficiency in organizing and analyzing large databases of waveforms, events, amplitudes, and arrivals.
- Significant experience with various computational methods including high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, data intensive computing and/or machine learning techniques.
- Collaborative programming skills (Java, C/C++, Python, SQL, Matlab, Perl, scripts), and experience with heterogeneous computing and development environments (Mac/PC/UNIX/LINUX platforms).
- Experience with modern computational infrastructures, including enterprise-level relational databases, large scale analytical platforms up to and including HPC, and large data storage repositories.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information.
Additional qualifications at the SES.4 level - Substantial and advanced subject matter expertise in seismology and other geophysical methods, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
- Significant experience with project management, including proposal writing, budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Significant experience with seismic monitoring applications, operations, forward and inverse modeling of subsurface problems, wave propagation modeling, and numerical methods including finite difference, finite volume, and/or finite element techniques.
