Physics: Condensed Matter, Physics: Materials, Physics: Solid State
Required Education:
Doctorate
The Group of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems in the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an immediate postdoctoral position opening in the area of theoretical modeling and simulation of quantum materials. The opened position provides an opportunity to pursue topological superconductivity in f-electron quantum materials with strong correlation and spin-orbit coupling. It will involve calculating the static and dynamical correlation functions, the pairing instability, analyzing the topological nature, and working closely with experimentalists for the discovery of f-electron topological superconductors. The successful candidate must have a strong skill, with an excellent scientific record of publications, in computational strongly correlated electron quantum materials. Experience with dynamical susceptibility calculations in either first-principles-based many-body perturbation theory (e.g., RPA, GW) or LDA+DMFT is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with Wien2k+DMFT electron structure code. The ability to work creatively and independently, as a part of a diverse team, is important. Strong written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by publications and cover letter, are essential.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. Please apply for this position online through LANL website https://www.lanl.gov/careers/index.php (Job id IRC82753), and also send a resume, publication list, research interests, a brief statement of future plans and the names of three references to Dr. Jian-Xin Zhu (jxzhu@lanl.gov). The position has an initial appointment of two years.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in theoretical condensed matter or quantum materials physics (completed within the last 5 years).
