The K-State Physics REU program offers summer fellowships to do world-class research in our friendly physics department in the scenic Flint Hills. We are funded by the National Science Foundation. 

As a student in our program, you will be paired with a faculty research mentor. Time will also be spent in a classroom setting, where faculty members will describe the physics behind your own project and your peers' projects as well.  

For 1-2 hours per week, philosophy faculty will lead discussions of ethical issues in physics, including case studies of some famous ethical violations in recent years.

You will develop a web page on your project, and give regular updates on your research to your fellow student researchers. Your project will culminate in an oral or poster presentation summarizing your research project, and in the creation of a web page summarizing your experiences.

We will organize social activities with other REU groups on campus. In past years, we have had dinner at mentors' homes, ice-cream socials, canoe trips and other excursions.
