A postdoctoral position is available in the Biomedical Optics and Functional Imaging Laboratory, Department of Bioengineering, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The Biomedical Optics and Functional Imaging Laboratory is affiliated with the Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute (LIERI), within the same building with UIC Ophthalmology and Retina Clinic. Our lab is focusing on new developments of ophthalmic imaging technology to advance retinal study, disease diagnosis and treatment evaluation. In collaboration with experienced ophthalmologists and vision scientists, our ongoing research includes ultra-wide field fundus photography, functional optical coherence tomography (OCT), super-resolution ophthalmoscopy, machine learning based retinal image analysis and eye disease classification.
The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in optical instrument developments, such as fundus camera, OCT, and confocal ophthalmoscopy for retinal imaging of animal models and human subjects. The selected candidates will have excellent opportunities to interact with researchers in Engineering, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences for a multidisciplinary training.
Successful candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline. Experience with optical design and construction is essential. Proficiency in Labview and Matlab programming is expected. Hand-on experience in retinal imaging study is desirable.
