The Nanoscience and Technology Division/Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory has an available postdoctoral position for the development of solid-state photon qubits. The position is funded for one year and renewable for up to three years (subject to available funding and performance evaluation).
We are seeking independent and creative candidates with outstanding track record to join our multidisciplinary research team. The selected individual will carry out researches in the areas of photon qubit development based on solid state quantum materials. He/She will perform quantum optics studies of low dimensional materials using confocal laser microscopy and magneto-optical spectroscopy. The candidate will also carry out basic chemical functionalization and modification of semiconductor materials using small molecules.
Required knowledge and skills:
A strong background in quantum optics, nanophotonics, or magneto-optical spectroscopy is preferred.
Experience with low dimensional materials or chemical functionalization is desired but not required.
Knowledge of electrical or optoelectronic device design and measurement is a plus.
Experience with semiconductor or spintronic materials is beneficial is but not required.
Knowledge of nanofabrication and programming languages.
Excellent written and oral communication as well as data analysis skills.
Strong skills in collaboration and ability to work independently.
Education: A PhD degree completed within the last three years or soon to be completed in physics, chemistry, material science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Interested candidates should send a detailed curriculum vitae including a list of publications and the names and addresses of three professional references through the Argonne web site at http://www.anl.gov/careers for requisition number NST 407765.
