Engineering and Technology: Aerospace and Aeronautical
The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) has an opening for a Research Engineer, located in Hampton, Virginia, to work in support of the Transition Physics and Modeling for Hypersonic Vehicles at NASA Langley Research Center.
The successful candidate will work with an exceptional team of computational and experimental researchers at NASA Langley Research and will contribute to the development and maturation of physics-based prediction tools for boundary layer transition in the hypersonic speed regime. Area of research will include a mixture of physical modeling, code development, and applications to flow configurations of interest to NASA and DoD. The position entails a combination of fundamental and applied research, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to the hypersonic research within US as well as to publish in archival literature.

PhD or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
Strong background in computational fluid dynamics
Excellent oral and written communication skills
U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is a bona fide requirement.
Prior experience in software design and programming using C++ and/or Fortran.
High performance computing, and modeling and numerical simulation of non-equilibrium/reacting flows.
