Earth and Environmental Sciences: Atmospheric Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences: Environmental Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences: Geoscience
The National Science Foundation funds many internships across the country called "Research Experiences for Undergraduates," including more than 60 in the broader geosciences. These REUs are hosted at universities, labs, aquariums, and museums around the country.
Many REUs are about ten-weeks long, and each hosts roughly 8-10 students. Travel and lodging are covered, and interns are paid.
This is an amazing opportunity to gain experience in research, to try out the exciting discipline of geoscience, and a chance to make great friends with peers from around the country.
We need your skills and it is satisfying to be able to apply physics, math, and programming skills to applied issues such as those in the ocean, Earth, atmospheric, and space sciences! We hope that you apply.
We seek students with skills in physics, math, chemistry, programming, GIS, geology, environmental science, geography, and more.
Look around on the NSF REU website for internships that appeal to you in terms of location, topic, and other information you get on their websites.

About On behalf of the National Science Foundation-Funded GEO REU Network
The National Science Foundation funds Research Experiences for Undergraduates at dozens of universities, museums, and labs across the country. These are ~10 week internships (usually in summer) intended to give undergraduate students the opportunity to try out doing research, all while having mentoring, a cohort group, and professional development training. These are paid internships, and travel and lodging are usually covered.
