Position Overview: The Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSMSE) at Boise State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow (PF) or Research Scholar (RS) with a background in single-molecule microscopy and spectroscopy, super-resolution microscopy, physics, and/or optics. The researcher will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary research team, the Nanoscale Materials and Device Group (NMDG), focused on studying and harnessing molecular excitonic quantum coherence enabled through DNA nanotechnology.
This funded research position will focus on designing, synthesizing, and characterizing molecular excitonic circuits composed of dye aggregates templated via self-assembly of DNA nanostructures. In support of this research, we are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scholar to (1) characterize these structures using super-resolution light microscopy, (2) develop an understanding of the positional and orientational precision of DNA-templated dye aggregation as well as the impact of structure and structural rigidity on single-construct spectral properties, and (3) apply this understanding to develop advanced molecular constructs exhibiting enhanced exciton delocalization and coherence for applications in quantum computing.
Duration of the project is ~2-3 years with the possibility of extension.
Qualifications:
In addition to the above, persons applying for the Research Scholar position should possess a minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience (or equivalent) with a demonstrated record of research productivity.
Salary and benefits: Annual salary ranges depending upon experience and qualifications are ~$50,000-$55,000 for the Postdoctoral Fellow or ~$60,000-$65,000 for the Research Scholar, plus an excellent benefit package is available for eligible employees, for more information visit: http://hrs.boisestate.edu/careers/benefits/
