Academia Sinica ( http://www.sinica.edu.tw/main_e.shtml ), the most preeminent academic institution in Taiwan, was founded in 1928 to promote and undertake scholarly research in sciences and humanities. The Institute of Physics ( http://www.phys.sinica.edu.tw/index.php?eng=T ) has been playing important roles in the development of physics and technology in Taiwan. Consisting of about 48 research faculties supported by more than 469 staff members, the Institute is committed to excellence in frontier research programs in Nanoscience, Complexity, Medium and High Energy Physics. Specific interests are in both theoretical and experimental investigations of particle physics and cosmology, condensed-matter and surface physics, statistical and computational physics, biophysics, as well as fluid mechanics and nonlinear physics.
