The Johns Hopkins University for Center Talented Youth (CTY) is currently seeking an assistant program manager for its summer residential and day programs in the United States.
The Assistant Program Manager's Role
Assistant program managers participate in planning and executing all activities related to academic summer programs for 10,000 academically talented students annually, including assisting with the direct management and day-to-day supervision of at least 2 program sites.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•Communicate with and advise students, parents, and school representatives. •Respond to and appropriately address student, parent, and staff concerns. •Recruit, hire, train, manage, and evaluate the performance of Summer Programs staff •Assist with communications with host institutions and vendors to ensure academic, residential, and other logistical needs of Summer Programs sites are met. •Provide curriculum development in an academic area and provide instructional support and guidance to instructional staff. •Participate in or chair departmental committees. •Edit and occasionally develop manuals, handbooks, and other documents for students, families, and staff to provide information related to Summer Programs practices, policies, and procedures. •Assist in establishing department priorities and contribute to decision making about Summer Programs policies and practices. •Travel and work some nights and weekends. Summer travel includes 3 residencies, each 1-2 weeks long, at program sites.

Prefer degree in physics, engineering, chemistry, computer science, or applied mathematics.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to manage high volume of work and multiple priorities.
Must be computer literate.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of teaching, pedagogy, and residential program issues.
Knowledge of both college and pre-college education.
Related Work Experience:
Two years of experience teaching (college or pre-college) or in residential life (college or boarding school) required.
Experience with academically talented students highly desired.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
