The Cluster of Excellence „CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter“, funded by the German Federal Republic and State Governments, combines projects in physics and chemistry at the forefront of international research. With interdisciplinary teams from Universität Hamburg, Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD), Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and European XFEL the Cluster aims at imaging and understanding how collective behavior and functionality emerge microscopically and how one can dynamically create new functionalities. The cluster’s research program includes projects on: Quantum physics and optics – Condensed matter physics – Ultrafast science and imaging – X-ray science – Nano science – and Bioimaging.
We invite applicants for
UP TO 8 RESEARCH ASSOCIATES AS YOUNG INVESTIGATOR GROUP LEADERS
– SALARY LEVEL 14/15 TV-L (TARIFFS FOR GERMAN CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES) –
The Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" seeks applications of highly talented young researchers to fill permanent scientist positions and to contribute significantly to the research development of the cluster.
The Young Investigators will be affiliated and work with one or more research groups in the Cluster and are expected to pursue and develop their own research and to be able to successfully apply for independent funds such as ERC grants, Emmy-Noether groups or DFG research grants. These tailor made positions provide an excellent launch pad to promote a scientific career on an international top level. We expect the holders of the positions to become very competitive candidates for professor positions worldwide.
With these permanent positions the Cluster of Excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” offers a new and highly attractive model for excellent career development and promotion, especially including equal opportunities and family friendliness.
