The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor (Associate Professor is possible), beginning Fall 2020. All areas of research related to glassy materials are welcome, from structure, property relationships, simulation and modeling to advanced spectroscopy, bioglasses and exotic manufacturing. We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in teaching in a liberal arts setting.
Coe College Physics Department has a four-decades-long externally funded glass research program with a special emphasis on the structural characterization and physical properties of oxide glasses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to benefit from our glass making and modern characterization laboratories, equipped with various furnaces, calorimeters, pycnometers, levitator, SEM, AFM, Raman and FTIR spectrometers and other instrumentation. The candidate will be expected to expand this nationally recognized research program that is accessible to undergraduates. Coe College Physics Department has been growing with currently over 90 majors, and graduating 15-20 majors per year.
