Open Level (Assistant, Associate, or Full) Professor in the Materials
The Materials Department in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking applications to fill an open level faculty position opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor position in the areas listed below.
Candidates are expected to lead a cutting-edge, world-class experimental research program in the development, application, and/or materials physics of hard condensed matter. We particularly encourage applications in one or more of the following areas: bulk crystal or thin film growth of new semiconducting, electronic, photonic, quantum, or topological materials; innovative characterization and/or measurement techniques, especially of novel physical phenomena; and new devices and/or technologies utilizing these materials. The candidate should demonstrate potential for collaborative research with the broader Materials community at UCSB, which has a longstanding reputation for collaborative research in advanced materials.
Appointment would be effective July 1, 2020 or later. At a minimum, applicants are expected to have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, at the time of application. Additionally, applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Material Science, Physics, or a related field by the time of appointment.
