Job Title: Physicist (York Memorial Radiation Onc)
Shift: DAY SHIFTS – FULL TIME
Summary of Department/Service Line: An exciting opportunity awaits in York, Pennsylvania, for a physicist in the Radiation Oncology department of UPMC Pinnacle.
UPMC Pinnacle will open a new cancer center in August 2019. As part of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, a premier National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we offer patients the latest advances in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
The physicist will provide high-quality medical physics through state-of-the-art technology services to patients requiring radiation therapy. The new facility will host a Varian TrueBeam with HyperArc and cone planning capabilities for the SRS program as well as a Varian Bravos HDR afterloader. This will be supported by Eclipse and Aria patient management system. The new center also includes a state-of-the-art 3T MRI scanner as well as GE PET/CT scanners that will be shared between the radiation oncology and medical oncology departments as well as a dedicated GE CT scanner.
Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Physicist, the physicist directs all clinical physics activity in the radiation oncology department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Masters or Ph.D. in Physical Sciences, Radiological, Medical Physics or Engineering Sciences required
Must be board-certified or board-eligible by one of the following boards: American Board of Radiology, with specialty in Radiation Therapy, or American Board of Medical Physics
At least two years of experience in HDR
Experience in IMRT/IGRT, HDR Brachytherapy, and Radiosurgery
Demonstrated strong leadership skills
Demonstrated skills in clinical research
Facilitation of innovative techniques
Two years working under the direction of a board-certified physicist or two years post-doctoral training with clinical experience in Radiological or Medical Physics preferred.
