Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The successful candidate for this role will work independently and as part of a team of postdoctoral researchers on numerous aspects of quantum computing and quantum information and machine learning as applied to quantum systems. A main goal is to produce the foundational research needed to convert noisy, intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices into a reliable resource that can benefit both LANL’s scientific and national security missions. You will also conduct research to identify areas of promise and develop theoretical and computational tools for quantum computers and communicate research results through reports, presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
Ph.D. or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, physics or a related field from an accredited college or university (completed within the past five years or soon to be completed)
Substantial experience in one or more of the fields of quantum information, quantum algorithms, quantum foundations or the simulation of quantum systems
Demonstrated research ability, as evidenced by publication, report, presentations or awards
Excellent communication skills, as evidenced by publications and a cogent cover letter
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
