A postdoc position in experimental condensed matter physics is available in Newaz group (Quantum Materials and Nanodevice Laboratory) in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at San Francisco State University. The main tasks will be the fabrication of 2D van der Waals heterostructures, advanced characterization, electrical transport measurements, optical measurements and optoelectrical measurements. The successful candidate will take the responsibility of the advanced characterization of devices and measurements. The characterization is based on optical (Raman, Photoluminescence, photocurrent in wide range of temperatures (1.5 K- 300 K)), and transport (electrical and magneto transport (0-12T)). The candidate is expected to have enough knowledge to operate a cryo-free magnet cryostat. A closed-loop cryostat (attocube 2100) will be installed in the lab soon. The candidate is expected to contribute to publications of high scientific impact.
Ph.D. in physics, materials science, or equivalent discipline.
Proven experience with transport and optoelectrical measurements.
Proven experience with low temperature measurement techniques. (Experience with a closed-looped magnet cryostat is a plus).
High English language competence. Proven experience with manuscript preparation.
Experience with Raman, PL and photocurrent spectroscopies is highly desirable.
Conditions The appointment of the Postdoc will be for 2 years.
