Conduct creative research and development to impact physics-based or data-centric applications.
Collaborate with a team of hardworking, multidisciplinary researches to explore state-of-the-art techniques and develop software to support the DOE mission.
Brief program managers on project proposals or status to develop and maintain program funding.
Collaborate with management on charting strategic research directions.
Collaborate with team members on journal publications and conference presentations, as well as participating in scientific conferences.
While this position is located at Sandia's New Mexico site, engagement with scientists at Sandia's California site, as well as collaborators external to Sandia is encouraged. Ability to collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues is a strong advantage in this position.
Sandia Job Title: R&D Computer Science
A PhD in applied mathematics, engineering, computer science, physical science, or equivalent discipline plus a bachelor's or master's in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
Advanced computer programming experience.
Research experience in data analytics or machine learning.
An outstanding record of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at scientific conferences..
Experience making effective technical presentations.
Experience leveraging novel architectures (e.g., GPUs, FPGAs, or SoCs) for simulation, data analysis, or machine learning
Research experience in exploratory/predictive data analytics, multi-scale/multi-physics simulations, high-performance data analytics, numerical methods, or cognitive science.
Expertise in scientific programming for high performance parallel computing, including expertise with MPI-based parallel programming.
