This position requires a highly motivated candidate with Ph.D. degree in one or more of the following areas: material science, solid-state physics, plasma physics, chemical engineering or electrical engineering. For this position, experience in one or more of the following is desirable: semiconductor processing, XPS, AFM and associated scanning probe measurements, optical spectroscopy, SEM, Hall measurements, CV, 2D Material growth, and ALD. The position will focus on heterostructure production using two dimensional materials such as graphene, boron nitride, molybdenum disulfide, phosphorene. The candidate will fabricate device structures (field effect transistors, Hall bars, antennas etc.) to evaluate the electrical, optical, mechanical and thermal properties of the 2D systems and their interactions with the environment and their substrates. This position is part of a larger, team-oriented group focused on 2-D material growth, sensing, metamaterials and plasmonics, and associated characterization and device structures of various types. There will be significant opportunities for cross-fertilization with these programs both inside and outside of NRL.
