You could be the Postdoctoral Appointee we are looking for with a background in electrical breakdown sciences to support research and development into the physics, as well as the design and performance of components and systems. On any given day, you may be called on to:
Create and develop advanced technologies for investigating the physical phenomena associated with electrical breakdown.
Develop and use electrical and optical diagnostics for characterization of electrical phenomena
Support the design and evaluation of critical components and systems.
Assure safe and secure operations that are consistent with ES&H and security

PhD in electrical engineering, plasma physics or a related discipline
A demonstrated history and interest in the physical phenomena associated with electrical breakdown through applied research and a demonstrated publication record
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q Clearance
Five years or more of experience in electrical breakdown research
Demonstrated experience using high voltage, high bandwidth diagnostics including high voltage and current probes (V-dots, B-dots, and CVRs) and imaging techniques including with laser diagnostics
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and using high voltage pulsers and Marx banks
Experience and familiarity with high speed photography and spectroscopy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the development and delivery of presentations, proposals and reports
