American Institute of Physics is seeking a full time Media Services Project Manager to be an integral member of our News and Media team. In partnership with the Senior Press Officer, this position will plan and execute the operational activities of the media services programs for AIP, AIP Publishing and Member Societies. manager’s main focus will be to create and implement short and long-term goals and objectives for the department while providing leadership for a team of four professionals. The successful candidate must have experience with overseeing projects, managing a team and enjoys writing and editing.
Broad knowledge and understanding of physical sciences
Deep understanding of media relations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent judgement abilities
Excellent manager of staff and projects
Diplomatic skills in dealings with internal and external constituents
Bachelor's Degree (required); preferred majors: science, journalism, communication
Graduate degree in the sciences or in science journalism preferred
5 years of in media relations or related field
5 years of a supervisory position with more than 2 direct reports
5 years of project management
