Norwich University Job Posting: Assistant Professor of Physics - Tenure Track
The five-member Department of Physics at Norwich University invites applications for up to two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in Fall of 2019. The candidate(s) will be expected to engage in teaching, research and service; the most important qualification is potential for excellence in teaching. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to teach courses throughout our curriculum, from general education through upper-division major courses. Standard teaching loads alternate between 9 to 12 contact hours each semester.
Faculty are also expected to develop a research program appropriate for involving undergraduates, and modest internal funding is available to support students and professional development. Current faculty members have interests in astrophysics, astronomy, geophysical fluid dynamics, experimental high-energy physics, and physics education; with the potential for two hires, the department is interested in both building on existing areas of research, and in expanding the intellectual diversity of the department.
Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in physics, astronomy, or closely allied field; exceptional ABD candidates will also be considered; demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching.
We seek individuals with a strong commitment to the education of undergraduates in the arts, sciences and engineering; and research interests appropriate for the participation of undergraduate students.
