The Department of Physics and Environmental Science at St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, a Catholic and Marianist university, invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the fall semester of 2019.
The department (https://www.stmarytx.edu/academics/department/physics/ ) offers undergraduate degrees in Physics, Physics with a Biophysics Option, Applied Physics, and Environmental Science. The department has six full-time faculty members and approximately 75 undergraduate students. The department is located within the School of Science, Engineering and Technology (https://www.stmarytx.edu/academics/set/), which has six departments, about 950 undergraduate and graduate students, and 77 faculty and staff members. The school has seen significant growth over the past six years and is poised to continue its growth consistent with the SET Vision and the University’s strategic plan Gateway: A Vision for St. Mary’s University (https://www.stmarytx.edu/about/gateway-strategic-plan/).
The department seeks faculty candidates with research interest in any field of physics, along with the ability to teach physics courses across the department and the ability to teach a general science course as part of our core curriculum. A PhD is strongly preferred, but ABD with anticipated degree completion within twelve months of the appointment will be considered. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, research, program development and evaluation, teamwork, and service.
