We are looking for a Postdoctoral Appointee with interest in the fabrication, characterization, and measurement of hybrid semiconductor-superconductor quantum systems with applications in quantum information science.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Design and fabricate nanoscale quantum devices
Characterize and operate semiconductor quantum dot and superconductor devices at dilution refrigerator temperatures.
Troubleshoot and optimize hybrid quantum devices
Collaborate with a diverse team, including experimentalists and theorists, with experience in quantum information science

PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Ability to quickly learn new experimental techniques
Experience making effective technical presentations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with semiconductor quantum systems or superconducting circuits, both fabrication and operation
Technical competency in nanoscale device fabrication
Experience with cryogenic measurement techniques
Experience working with quantum-based devices in an experimental setting
Experience with dilution refrigerator operation
Scientific programming for efficient data collection
Ability to collaborate in a team environment, and interested in interdisciplinary research.
Independent vision, creativity, and ability to pursue and achieve R&D milestones
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
