The Department of Physics & Astronomy (http://dornsife.usc.edu/physics) at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California is hiring a tenure-track/tenured professor (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor) in Theoretical Astrophysics or Cosmology with an anticipated start date of Fall, 2019. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in physics or a related field. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the extraction of Astrophysics from gravitational wave observations, but we also encourage applications from candidates in other areas of specialization in Theoretical Astrophysics or Cosmology. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent research in these areas. USC is also developing a collaboration with Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena. The ideal candidate should therefore pursue a strong, independent research program at USC and create a new synergistic research program as part of the USC-Carnegie collaboration.
The position is expected to be at a junior or intermediate level, however applications from exceptional senior candidates are also strongly encouraged.
