Potential candidates should consult the Canada Research Chairs website for full program information, including further details on eligibility criteria
ÉTS Montréal is looking for a talented candidate who can excel in a collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment. The candidate must have demonstrated remarkable abilities in high-level research, the ability to position himself as a reference researcher in his field, and to maintain quality in teaching and in graduate student supervision.
As part of the Université du Québec network with nearly 11,000 students, ÉTS Montréal is one of Canada’s largest engineering schools with a dynamic and strong industry-oriented mindset. With its campus located in the “Quartier de l’innovation” (Innovation District) in downtown Montreal, ÉTS Montréal provides a vibrant multicultural environment with strategic access to several major industrial and academic research partners.
The Canada Research Chair is also open to internal candidates who already hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at ÉTS Montréal.
How to apply ?
Tier 2 chairs are for emerging researchers (individuals who are no more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree). Nevertheless, where breaks in the candidate’s research career exist due to maternity or parental leave, extended sick leave, clinical training, or family care, the Tier 2 justification process may be used to review a candidate’s eligibility.
Interested applicants should submit as one PDF document :
A curriculum vitae with a complete list of publications (CCV, F100-NSERC, etc.);
A 2-3 page explaining the candidate's vision for the research Chair, namely:
how the Chair will ascertain ÉTS Montréal’s leadership in the field of the Chair and
the tangible benefits of the Chair in terms of research excellence, training of highly qualified personnel, technology transfer and socio-economic impact.
Application review will begin by September 6, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
The applicant must already be or be eligible to become a member of the Quebec’s Professional Order of Engineers (www.oiq.qc.ca) and to reach within two years, a sufficient level of French proficiency required for teaching undergraduate as well as graduate students.
All interested candidates should send their application as one PDF document by email to CRC2firstname.lastname@example.org by August 21, 2018.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for this position. However, priority shall be given to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents, in compliance with Canadian immigration requirements.
ÉTS Montréal is strongly committed to fostering diversity within its community as a source of excellence, cultural enrichment, and social strength. As such, we encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including women, members of visible minorities, aboriginal persons, members of sexual minorities, persons with disabilities, and others who may contribute to diversification. We will adapt the recruitment mechanisms to the specific needs of people with disabilities who request it. The institution also recognizes the impact that career breaks may have on the record of research achievements. If applicable, the candidate is invited to explain, when submitting his application, the impact that a career break may have had on his portfolio of achievements. This information will be treated confidentially.
