Assistant Professorship in Machine Learning and Computational Neuroscience
The Institute of Computer Science (Faculty of Science), the Center of Neuroscience (Faculty of Medicine) and the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine (SITEM) seek an assistant professor in Machine Learning and Computational Neuroscience with starting date November 1st, 2018 or as soon as possible. The research focus is on modern machine learning methods for modeling and processing clinical data for sleep and epilepsy research.
This position is supported by the Interfaculty Research Cooperation (IRC) project on sleep research and is part of a new collaboration that aims to strengthen the translational research between the Faculties of Science and Medicine and SITEM. The candidate will be the head of the Computational Platform within the IRC, which consists of 5 Professors and 3 PhD students. The position includes financial support for 1 PhD student and is limited to 3 years with a possible extension of 1 more year.
The candidate should have a strong background in machine learning and clinical data analysis in neuroscience. Experience with the analysis of neurophysiological data, such as long-term (intracortical) EEG recordings, is highly desirable and ideally the candidate has already successfully worked in an interdisciplinary medical-scientific environment.
The successful candidate is expected to teach 1 course in the Bachelor Program in Computer Science and will have the opportunity to teach courses in the Master Program in Computer Science and in Biomedical Engineering.
