The Computational Imaging Science Laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a computational scientist to work on a variety of large-scale numerical inverse problems related to wave-based imaging. The position involves the development of mathematical methods for image reconstruction and the implementation of those methods using high-performance, parallelized GPU platforms. Specific imaging modalities include photoacoustic tomography, ultrasound tomography, and x-ray phase-contrast imaging. Certain projects also involve the development of machine learning methods for improving image reconstruction and image interpretation.
A strong applicant will be proficient in the following skills:
scientific programming in C/C++/CUDA
numerical optimization methods
The ideal applicant will also have experience in tomographic image reconstruction, a strong background in linear algebra and/or discrete mathematics, as well as a demonstrated record of scientific achievement.
Both post-doctoral and Staff Scientist-level positions are available.
