The Department of Physics and Earth-Space Science at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics position to begin August 2018. This individual will teach 24 hours of primarily introductory physics courses. This is a full-time, nine-month position with partial benefits. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to apply for the full-time, tenure-track position to be advertised in the 2018-2019 year.
Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. in physics from an accredited institution (candidates who are ABD may be considered with the expectation of degree conferral prior to August of 2018). The ability to teach some advanced physics or astronomy courses will be viewed favorably. Experience with PBL, PER, and undergraduate student research are very attractive and align well with current departmental priorities. Background in applied physics is desirable. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience developing and practicing teaching strategies that actively engage students both inside and outside the classroom.
