: We are seeking an Intern Summer \- R&D Undergrad The CCR seeks several students to participate in collaborative research across a wide range of areas in computer science, applied mathematics, discrete mathematics, mathematical modeling, computational science and engineering, computational neuroscience and cognitive science \(including cognitive and experimental psychology, neuroscience, and linguistics\)\. Students are also sought with interests in applying computational methods to scientific and engineering applications including shock physics, molecular dynamics, MHD, CFD, electrical systems, MEMS, and climate science\. These student internships are for motivated and enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication skills and who have the desire to gain research experience in a highly collaborative research environment\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Conduct research in possible areas including advanced computer architectures, systems software, programming languages and paradigms, networks, informatics and information sciences, combinatorial mathematics, discrete event simulation, scalable linear and nonlinear solvers, continuous and discrete optimization, uncertainty quantification, statistics, multiscale methods and mathematics, multiphysics modeling, visualization, visual cognition, meshing, cybersecurity, advanced modeling and simulation, human decision modeling, machine learning, brain inspired computing and assessing human performance+ Be exposed to a wide range of computational and/or cognitive research at Sandia and will have a strong project\-based research experience working directly with Sandia staff scientists Required: You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: + Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited undergraduate program+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America\. Sandia will not sponsor work authorization for this position\. _Note: If you have not yet started your undergraduate program, please apply to a high school intern position\._ Additional Requirements: + Communication skills appropriate for participating in multi\-disciplinary research teams+ Current enrollment in an electrical engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, cognitive science or related fields with a strong academic record Desired: + Software development and programming experience \(C\+\+, C, Fortran, Matlab, Java, Python\)+ Knowledge or the interest to learn parallel programming such as MPI, OpenMP, and/or threads+ Experience with mathematical modeling techniques, including linear and integer programming, statistical modeling, and system dynamics modeling+ Experience in psychology, linguistics and neuroscience Department Description: The Center for Computing Research \(CCR\) at Sandia creates technology and solutions for many of our nation's most demanding national security challenges\. We maintain world\-class research programs in computational and discrete mathematics, computer science, scalable algorithms, and large\-scale high performance computer systems\. In cybersecurity, we focus on open, exploratory research in partnership with academia and industry\. The CCR is the primary means by which Sandia engages the external computational science research community, annually hosting over 50 faculty visitors and 50 summer graduate student interns in an exciting and highly multidisciplinary research environment\. CCR researchers have access to Sandia's state\-of\-the\-art parallel\-computing environment including numerous large\-scale clusters, visualization servers, and other specialized computing systems, as well as laboratories for assessing human performance, simulating cyber networks, performing cyber training and doing exploratory data analysis\.
