The Faculty of Engineering at Victoria University of Wellington is developing a world-leading center for teaching and research in cybersecurity. Our programmes will encompass the technical design and implementation of cybersecurity, whilst also including the relevant aspects of regulations, policy, psychology, human factors and criminology.
Unlike almost any other cybersecurity degree, our students will be exposed to a commercial, Carnegie-Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI) accredited CSIRT, and our programmes are fully informed by the latest SEI Cybersecurity developments.
We seek top quality applicants with skills and expertise in some relevant aspect of cybersecurity, including (but not limited to) one or more of the following sub-fields: system and network security, secure software development, computer forensics, intrusion detection, authentication systems, cyber risk and economics, incident handling and the usability of cybersecurity.
As a School, we are committed to combining research excellence with innovative and motivating teaching, and maintain strong local and international connections with world-class companies such as Google, Oracle and Huawei.
We are seeking to make two permanent academic appointments. Depending on the experience and qualities of the successful candidate, these positions can be appointed at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (equivalent to a US Assistant Professor or US Associate Professor) or Associate Professor (equivalent to a US Professor).
This is a rare opportunity to develop your academic career in a collegial and collaborative environment at the heart of New Zealand's nexus of industry, research and government sectors.
