The Division of Supply Logistics is responsible for securely managing and controlling the inventory assets of NYC Transit and provides timely issuance of materials to support the activities of all NYC Transit Departments. Inventory management is supported by a fully integrated on-line materials management system. The prompt receipt, efficient storage and issuance of inventory ensures that the material required to maintain the subway car and bus fleets, infrastructure, and NYC Transit Operations is provided in a safe and timely manner. The division currently operates 62 storerooms located throughout the five boroughs of NY City.
NYC Transit’s Division of Supply Logistics is seeking an experienced professional to act as the Director of the Supply Chain Management Systems. This position is based in Maspeth, Queens, NY.
This key role will report to the Assistant Chief Officer, Operations Management. The Director will coordinate the systems and corresponding procedural changes planned for NYC Transit in managing its inventory as part of the All-Agency Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) initiative. This will include migration from a mainframe application to a new PC based supply chain management software package and the identification and development of the configurations and customizations required to meet the Division of Supply Logistics’ operating needs and NYC Transit’s inventory accountability requirements. Additionally, the incumbent will need to address all policy and procedural revisions required resulting from the system migration and plan for rollout of this and any other systems related projects, troubleshooting problems, and coordinating services with internal divisions and any outside vendor support personnel. Further, the director will be responsible for managing the implementation of enhancements to the current inventory management system and policy and procedural changes that can be made in connection with improving current inventory management; accountability and affirming the application of industry best practices.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Business Administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Systems Analysis or a related field and 10 years of related work experience of which seven (7) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity.
A satisfactory equivalent.
• Experience with major systems implementation/project management from inception through product selection/design, implementation, testing, training and auditing phases; • Experience working with computerized inventory management and warehouse management systems; • Experience working with design and development of Mainframe CICS applications and server/cloud based inventory programs; • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software, systems design and business process analysis, materials management, and warehousing and distribution; • Experience working in a large organization with multiple bases of operation; • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; • Lean Six Sigma Certification; • APICS certification.
