: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee with a background in electrical breakdown sciences to support research and development into the physics as well as the design and performance of components and systems\. Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to: + Creation and development of advanced technologies for investigating the physical phenomenon associated with electrical breakdown+ Supporting the design and evaluation of critical components and systems+ Assurance of safe and secure operations that are consistent with ES&H and security Required: + PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment, in Electrical Engineering, Plasma Physics or a related discipline+ Research experience related to the physical phenomena associated with electrical breakdown+ Good communication skills as evidenced by a history of publication of results in peer\-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance Desired: + Five years' experience in electrical breakdown research+ Demonstrated experience using high voltage, high bandwidth diagnostics and imaging techniques including high voltage and current probes \(V\-dots, B\-dots, and CVRs\) and imaging with lasers+ Demonstrated experience in using high voltage pulsers+ Willingness to work around high voltage+ Experience with power electronic hardware and systems+ Experience with experimental electromagnetics+ Experience with ultrawide band gap devices+ Experience with motor and motor drives+ Expertise with Matlab/Simulink Department Description: Department 1353 is a multidisciplinary research and development group supporting NNSA Defense and Work for Other \(WFO\) Programs\.
