: The MESA Fabrication Operations Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct advanced research for emerging technologies that can be used to create microsystem\-based products tailored to the unique needs of national security applications\. The successfully candidate will have an opportunity bring interesting technologies and ideas for development at both a die and wafer scale while also learning potentially new technologies such as superconductivity, piezoelectricity, ferroelectricity, and MEMS\. Opportunities to publish in scientific journals and attend scientific conferences are highly encouraged\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Fabricate prototype devices and device characterization of advanced microsystems\.+ Perform semiconductor testing and documentation\.+ Fabricate using tools such as plasma etch, photolithography, wet etching and deposition, and wafer bonding while advancing semiconductor based technologies\.+ Document work with scientific publications and conference presentations\. Required: + Ph\.D\. in applied physics, electrical engineering, physics, chemical engineering, or a related science or engineering discipline received within the last five years\.+ Cumuatlve undergraduate GPA of 3\.2/4\.0; cumulative graduate GPA of 3\.5/4\.0\.+ Experience in one of the following categories: - Experience with semiconductor processing, integration knowledge, and device research particularly with Si, III\-V, or other compound semiconductors, as evidenced by publications, patents, and conference presentations\.- Plasma etch and thin film characterization \(optical and/or electrical\)\.+ Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment\. Desired: + Knowledge of scientific principles and processes\.+ Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication equipment \(e\.g\. plasma based etch, lithography, deposition\) required for fabricating a semiconductor device from conception to test\.+ Knowledge of typical semiconductor device electrical characterization equipment\.+ Knowledge of scientific computing tools such as Matlab, Mathematica, or Comsol\.+ Knowledge of typical semiconductor material characterization techniques \(e\.g\. Department Description: 5240 develops and maintains core semiconductor processing capabilities that enable our customers to build differentiating Microsystems products\. Two unique facilities are co\-located within the 64,900 square foot MESAfab complex including: \(1\) a 11,900 square foot Class 1 Silicon Fab for 6\-inch silicon wafer processing and \(2\) a 14,900 square foot Class 10/Class 100 MicroFab for compound semiconductor processing and silicon wafer post\-processing\. The Silicon Fab has processing expertise in CMOS and MEMS technologies\. Over 150 equipment sets are maintained, supported and operated 24 hours per day, 5 days a week \(3 shifts\)\. Processing and maintenance expertise are staffed on all 3 shifts\. We offer unique prototyping capabilities and are capable of producing full flow production lots as well as performing flexible process development\. The MicroFab has expertise in compound semiconductor processing\. All of the MicroFab equipment \(180 tools\) are maintained and supported by our in\-house maintenance and technical staff\. We are capable of producing highly customized, low\-volume production or prototyping devices and have flexible processing capabilities\.
