We have a unique opportunity for a PhD physicist with a keen interest in nanotechnology instrumentation to join our global technical sales team as a trainee Sales Engineer to help develop the US & Canadian markets for MANTIS-SIGMA. A strong research background in one, or ideally more, of our Surface Science or Thin Film technologies is required. Following technical and business training in the UK, the successful candidate will take up a position at our Denver office. The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing sales locally to meet the objectives of the company’s overall business plan; creating new sales strategies to penetrate and develop new markets while maintaining our existing business; and identify and build relationships with researchers within North America.
MANTIS-SIGMA is a leading provider of high technology tools and systems for research. The partnership of MANTIS-SIGMA was formed through the cooperation between two advanced scientific equipment manufacturers specializing in UHV Surface Analysis with SPM and XPS and Thin Film Deposition. We are looking to develop our customer support network in North America. This role is an integral part of a successful and rapidly expanding company with offices in Germany, UK and USA. The company has recently achieved record results and is driving growth through product development and continued market uptake of its unique UHV SPM, XPS and MBE technology.
Customer communication for generating and closing technical sales in the USA and Canada.
Acquisition of new customers and creating strong relationships with University, National Laboratory, and industrial researchers.
Securing leads for system sales, component sales, and support contracts.
Generation of mailing lists and newsletters.
Attending Physics and Materials conferences nationally.
Supporting marketing with market intelligence through contact with customers.
Travel up to 50%.
University doctorate in Physics, Materials Science, or Nanotechnology.
Experience in operation of UHV STM, XPS/ESCA, and/or PVD/MBE systems is preferred.
Strong understanding of academic research trends.
Thrives on independence and flexible work patterns. This will involve travel and/or working outside normal working hours when necessary.
Professional, pro-active and driven with a passion for delivering customer satisfaction.
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
Seeking a new challenge to develop their technical knowledge and commercial exposure.
Must be legally able to secure short notice clearance to US Government labs to perform the duties of this role.
