Tenured Faculty Position in Condensed Matter Experiment
at the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), the University of Tokyo
Recent developments in materials science have shown that interdisciplinary research crossing traditional boundaries, such as the synergy between bulk materials studies and nanoscale science is the key to achieving scientific and technological breakthroughs. Close collaborations should therefore be promoted between new materials research, development of new structures, application of advanced measurement techniques, and theoretical studies to develop new concepts. In response to these developments and future needs, a new Quantum Materials Group was established at the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP) of the University of Tokyo in October 2016, bringing together people from different divisions and research fields.
The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP) of the University of Tokyo is seeking an outstanding candidate in condensed matter experiment. As a new member of the Quantum Materials Group, the successful candidate is expected to lead research activities and cultivate new interdisciplinary fields by developing or utilizing new research methods related to nanoscale materials science.
The Number of Open Positions and Affiliation
One tenured Associate or Full Professor in the Quantum Materials Group and concurrently appointed to the Division of Nanoscale Science
We seek applications from young ambitious researchers who are eager to develop new frontiers in condensed matter science. The successful candidate is expected to develop new nanoscale materials and structures to explore new quantum phenomena, develop new quantum functionalities, and utilize advanced measurement techniques in close collaboration with members of the Quantum Materials Group and the Division of Nanoscale Science.
