Physics: Condensed Matter, Physics: Materials, Physics: Solid State
Job Description: The Physics Department at Duke University is seeking to make two postdoctoral research associate appointments in experimental condensed matter physics in the area of correlated electron systems. Candidates with experience in X-ray and neutron scattering techniques, and material design/synthesis are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates will participate in X-ray and neutron scattering experiments to be conducted at the national and international user facilities, as well as transport measurements under extreme sample environments to be performed in collaboration with the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. They will also be involved in sample synthesis/single crystal growth and characterization measurements at Duke University.
These positions are one-year appointments with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. The review of applications will start immediately, however, the positions will remain open until filled.
Application Material: Applications should include a CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and contact information for three references.
Inquiries: Questions regarding these positions may be directed to Prof. Sara Haravifard (email@example.com).
Requested Profile: Applicants should hold a PhD in condensed matter physics, solid state chemistry, or experimental materials science. Background in X-ray/neutron scattering, coding programs and computational modelling of physical systems, sample synthesis and crystal growth, extreme sample environments: cryogenics, high magnetic field and/or high pressure setups, is a plus.
