Job Description

Join an interdisciplinary team to develop cutting edge products for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy. The Molecular Detection Laboratory in Agilent Labs is launching a new research program to enhance our competitive position in magnetic resonance technologies. The successful applicant will work within a team of engineers and scientists to explore new concepts for NMR spectroscopy. We are looking for a versatile physical scientist or engineer with expertise in cryogenic systems to help us invent and develop breakthrough technologies that dramatically impact the performance of our products, or who can contribute to the invention and development of entirely new products.

This position is located on Agilent’s main campus in Santa Clara, CA in the heart of Silicon Valley.
 


Additional Information

*The successful candidate will have the equivalent of a Ph.D. in a physical science or engineering discipline and at least 2-3 years of experience in building experimental measurement apparatus.

*Experience in the design and construction of cryogenic systems is essential, including the ability to understand and analyze heat transport and knowledge of materials suitable for use in cryosystems.

*It is also essential that the candidate be familiar with techniques for quantitatively evaluating the precision, reproducibility, accuracy and relevance of experimental measurements.

*Candidates with a broad background that includes research and design contributions in several areas of physical measurement and candidates with NMR hardware experience will receive priority consideration.

*The candidate must have a strong record of accomplishment addressing challenging problems, have excellent communication skills, and an ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment.
